Residents thrive in amenity-rich surroundings that are combined with sophisticated programming to create our Generations Memory Care. The program encourages residents to participate; enhances their sense of joy, accomplishment and satisfaction; and promotes their physical, emotional, social and spiritual well being.

Alexander Court Memory Care is uniquely suited to care for seniors with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia in a specially designed and secured neighborhood. It is dedicated to memory care and comprised of a large living room, a dining area, an outdoor courtyard and resident apartments.

Memories are the threads that join families from one generation to the next. The Generations program at Alexander Court gives residents and their families the support they need for living with memory loss. The care provided recognizes that residents desire continued dignity, a sense of belonging and opportunities for gratifying interactions with others. It draws on their strengths, allows them to maintain existing abilities and fills any gaps in life skills with an appropriate level of assistance. While the reality of memory loss is difficult, Alexander Court Generations program is designed to help build on the best memories possible for residents and their families.

Responsive Care

Residents' whereabouts and well-being are monitored by highly trained staff that provides 24-hour care and supervision. There is a nurse manager on staff, along with a full-time case manager. Enhanced staff-to-resident ratios allow responsive care. Services include arrangement of health care appointments, mobility assistance, help with dressing, standby and full assistance for showering and personal care assistance with activities of daily living.

Specially Trained and Caring Staff

Staff receives on-going training in "best practices" and uses appropriate, progressive techniques, memory cues, verbal and non-verbal communications to redirect and reorient residents. They also understand and respond compassionately to residents' behaviors and changing abilities.

Comforting Surroundings, Supportive Services

Attention was paid to ensure that these accommodations offer ease of living. Chef-prepared meals are prepared daily from fresh ingredients and served in a home-like communal dining area. Convenient and manageable finger foods are available for residents who have difficulty sitting through a meal. The dining area can easily be rearranged to double as a setting for group activities. Living quarters are private and spacious, ready to be individualized with personal furnishings and belongings. Each is fitted with an emergency response system. All of the bathrooms meet ADA standards and have slip-resistant flooring. Apartments receive daily room tidying and weekly housekeeping. There is personal laundry and linen service available. And, short-term respite stays can be arranged.

Enriching Activities

A full calendar of diverse activities, designed to engage residents, are scheduled and on-going. They are tailored to individual preferences and skill levels. Individual, small and large group activities can include such things as exercise, nature walks, and gardening; art, music, and singing; classes and demonstrations; reminiscence activities; aromatherapy; visits with community pets; on-site entertainers and celebrations; weekly off-site outings and excursions; and holiday celebrations. Family involvement is highly encouraged.
